IARPP Conference 2016 - The Arts of Time: Relational Psychoanalysis and Forms of Vitality in Clinical Process

Rome, June 9-12, 2016

About IARPP 2016

We are delighted to open the registration for the 13th IARPP Conference that this year takes place in Rome.

The conference theme raised a remarkable interest in many colleagues around the world, so we thank all the authors who submitted proposals. We tried – along with the International Conference Committee and the Local Committee – to build a program that includes the largest variety of proposals and at the same time the widest representation of different international relational communities.

A relational perspective on the clinical process emphasizes how it is a co-constructed result of a dyad engaged in a deep and creative exploration of the inner vicissitudes of the patient and the vicissitudes of the dyad itself. In their daily work relational therapists are challenged to facilitate a kind of creative dimension in order to improve the meaning making process.

Arts have placed at their core an interest in what today - in our field - we call "implicit” and have expanded a wisdom about the creative process that develops in time, between human beings, going beyond words and concepts.
Forms of vitality are those dynamic forms that permeate daily life, psychotherapy, and the arts. Vitality means the capacity to live, grow, and develop; the capacity to endure, the capacity for the continuation of a meaningful existence. In this conference forms of vitality will be explored from many innovative perspectives - theater, music, dance, cinema, performative arts, literature, poetry - using artistic ways of thinking to improve wisdom in the clinical dialogue.
The conference topic emerges quite naturally from the context of the city of Rome, that is in itself a living stratification of arts and times. To make this event even more unique, the Conference will be held at the Teatro Argentina, the most important theatre of Rome located at the core of the historical centre of the city.

The conference official language is English. There is going to be simultaneous translation English/Italian in the plenary sessions. As for the parallel paper sessions, we will project the English texts in order to facilitate non-English speaking participants.
We plan to arrange Educational Credits for Italy and Europe, participants from USA and Canada can convert the European Credits: please be in touch with Bluevents for any question about this.

On Saturday June 11th evening (8pm to 12pm) there will be a Conference Party at Palazzo Brancaccio, an historical palace in the centre of Rome with beautiful salons and a nice garden. There is going to be good food and a live band to dance. We hope you will take advantage of this special event in a very special place.

IARPP is enthusiastically looking forward to sharing with you an experience that we do hope will be a source of knowledge and vitality for all of us.
